Mike Martucci Calls on State Legislature to Stop Victimizing Victims

Senator Metzger and Her Radical Left Colleagues Put Criminals Ahead of Families by Denying People Compensation Under State’s Victims Compensation Fund

Goshen, NY (September 22, 2020) – Mike Martucci, candidate for the 42nd State Senate District seat today called upon Senator Metzger and New York’s radical left, pro-criminal, legislature to get their priorities straight and provide crime victims with protection by repealing their dangerous bail elimination law, and expanding the Victims Compensation Fund to provide relief to ALL crime victims regardless of age.

“Currently the Crime Victims Fund only provides relief to victims between the ages of 18 and 60 if they were physically injured; while victims under age 18 and over age 60 can receive compensation no matter the type of injury suffered,” Martucci said. “Unfortunately, Senator Metzger’s reckless bail elimination law has resulted in a surge of crime victims who suffer in a variety of ways. Metzger and her radical pro-criminal colleagues should not be choosing ‘winners and losers’ among a group of citizens who have all suffered terribly. Every crime victim deserves our sympathy, support and most of all – protection.”

Martucci’s “Victims Rights and Reparations Act” would eliminate the age disparity to qualify for relief under the Victims Compensation Fund and would be funded by eliminating wasteful government spending like $100 million in taxpayer-funded political campaign financing that benefits incumbents like Senator Metzger.

Citing Mike Martucci’s leadership in fighting for the repeal of Metzger’s bail elimination law, and history of supporting women and children who are the victims of domestic violence through the Mike & Erin Martucci Family Foundation, nearly 30 police unions across the state have endorsed his candidacy.
