Latest Endorsement Serves as Stinging Rebuke to Metzger’s Reckless and Dangerous Bail Elimination Law
Goshen, NY (September 23, 2020) – New York State Senate candidate for the 42nd District Mike Martucci today announced that the New York State Police Investigators Association (NYSPIA) has endorsed his candidacy to unseat Senator Metzger – the architect of New York’s dangerous bail elimination law that has endangered communities across the state and put New York’s law enforcement personnel at grave risk.
The New York State Police Investigators Association’s endorsement letter stated, “The 42nd District needs your recognized talents to support working families, strictly enforce the laws and address labor issues. Throughout your career you have clearly demonstrated yourself as a dedicated public servant who knows what it takes to get the job done through the most difficult times and challenging circumstances. The members of the New York State Police Investigators Association believe your experience, integrity and independence make you the clear choice.”
Martucci remarked, “I am honored to receive the endorsement of the New York State Police Investigators Association. As communities across the state are ravaged by lawlessness in the wake of Senator Metzger’s reckless bail elimination law, the brave and selfless women and men of NYSPIA are working tirelessly to protect our families from criminals who do not value life or property and view their fellow New Yorkers not as neighbors but as prey. When I am elected to the state senate, I will support those who risk everything for us by repealing Metzger’s dangerous bail reform law and fully funding the police to protect our families.”
The New York State Police Investigators Association joins a litany of law enforcement associations endorsing Martucci’s candidacy including the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York, the New York State Fraternal Order of Police, the New York State Troopers Benevolent Association, the Orange County District Attorney’s Investigators Association, and the Orange County Deputy Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association.
The Martucci campaign anticipates additional endorsements given his reputation of being a principled businessman who has worked to advocate for the rights of hardworking women and men across the state.
