Goshen, NY – It’s been a very happy Valentine’s Day for Mike Martucci, candidate for the 42nd State Senate District seat, as he formally received the Orange County GOP Committee’s nomination last evening. In the coming weeks, Martucci anticipates receiving nominations from the GOP Committees in Sullivan, Ulster, and Delaware counties; and hopes to receive the nomination from the Conservative Party and a place on the ballot as the Independence Party candidate as well.
“As a life-long Orange County resident, it is particularly meaningful that the Orange County GOP were the first to officially nominate me for the 42nd Senate District seat. I am honored that they have placed their faith and support in my candidacy. Our focus is clear, our campaign is about putting families first as we seek to undo the disastrous policies instituted by Senator Metzger and her radical New York City liberal colleagues in the state legislature,” said Martucci.
The enthusiasm for Martucci’s candidacy has been evident from the moment he announced before a crowd of hundreds on January 16th. Surrounded by school bus drivers, business leaders, community representatives, and elected officials from throughout the district; and representing every political persuasion, Martucci presented a vision that respects and protects the rights of law-abiding citizens over those of criminals.
As a board member of the New York School Bus Contractors Association and citizen advocate, Mike worked with Democrats and Republicans to help pass a law that protects children and families from criminals. The legislation, which was signed into law by Governor Cuomo in 2011, disqualifies a person from driving a school bus if he or she was convicted of promoting a sexual performance of a child. Compare that with the current senator who voted for the law that eliminates bail for criminals who promote an obscene sexual performance of a child.
“The hallmarks of a good leader include strength of conviction and a willingness to admit mistakes, and course correct when mistakes are made. For too long the residents of the 42nd Senate District have been the victims of bad policy driven by downstate interests and a radical political ideology,” said Martucci. “The recent enactment of “Bail Reform” has placed our communities in danger. Rather than admit the policy was wrong and call for its repeal, my opponent has doubled down on it. Meanwhile we read stories every day about released criminals reoffending as they await their day in court. Whether its bail reform, taxes on prescription drugs like opioids, or supporting the Green Light Law that gives drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, my opponent consistently votes against the interests of her district. This madness needs to stop.”
The 42nd state senate district comprises Sullivan county, and parts of Orange, Ulster, and Delaware counties.
